| General History of the Car |
Purchased car in Georgia from an individual who deals in older sports and special interest cars. Following comments are his, “This is a rare triple carb version of the Austin Healey 3000 MKII (BT7) in very good restored condition. Healey blue paint and body are both extremely nice. Car had a professional paint job about 5 years ago and the paint finish is smooth. Very good chrome, new Triplex windshield, nice interior, soft top and bow in very good condition, clean and detailed engine compartment. Gearbox was rebuilt a few years ago and it shifts very well. Has electric overdrive in working order. Engine starts right up and has plenty of power. Frame is straight and rust free (but not detailed). Frame does not show any signs of prior accident damage. On August 28, 2004 an engine compression test was done and the results were very positive; all cylinders were within 10% of each other and most were within 5%". This car has been inspected and all mechanical repairs needed done. This vehicle is in very good shape. It looks bright and sounds as a Healey should with that throaty exhaust. Engine Installed a new electric fuel pump. Replaced manifold and exhaust gaskets. Replaced fuel line. Rebuilt carburetors, complete tune up with new parts including wire set. New throttle and choke cables.
Repaired wiring as needed. Repaired radiator and upper tank, flushed system and winterized to minus 30 (It gets cold in Vermont!).
Drive Train Front engine, live rear axle, 4 speed transmission with the optional overdrive. NO synchromesh in first gear with this model. New clutch assembly complete and resurfaced fly wheel. Chassis Solid separate box steel chassis with independent front suspension and leaf springs rear. Cam and peg steering. Rebuilt front end with king pins and tie rod assembly, aligned, etc. Brakes Disks front and rear drums. Complete brake job including rotors, master and slave cylinders and brake line. Repaired emergency brake system. Wheels 5.90 tires mounted on 15” painted wire wheels It is interesting to note that the bodies were built by Jensen who later produced its own “Jenson-Healey” - Paint: Fine. Hard top has a couple of shipping scratches, two small bubbles on car see pictures.
