General History of Car

Car was imported to the U.S. from Canada and I purchased it from the importer/owner. It was sold to me as a second series which began production in 1969 so this car is either a late Series l or an early Series ll. As with many cars from this era there were many rolling production changes and year of registration is not helpful in determining model number. I’ve been told when this vehicle was produced it was considered the fastest (2) door sedan in the world but she is built so low to the ground, sedan seems like a misnomer!

Vehicle Description

Vehicle is a nice overall driver. I have registered it and do drive it a bit. The engine is smooth and starts immediately. The synchros are fine and she is extremely smooth on the road. This car does not have the power steering option and is a bit heavy to park in tight spaces but who wants to park this car anyway!

Mechanical
Engine

Fine, compression 155-185. Fresh plugs. Practically new Ansa exhaust system.

Drive Train

Front engine with the speed transmission and rear drive.

Chassis

Integral Chassis/Body with independent suspension all around. Have just rebuilt front end on this vehicle.

Brakes

Girling ventilated disks all around.

Wheels

Magnesium knock-offs with 205mm by 15” tires.

Body
  • Paint: Older repaint but in good condition.
  • Rust: None
  • Damage/Collision: None known
  • Trim: Exterior seems to be fine
  • Other: New wiper blades and arms, new hoses, repaired wiring panel lights, new headlamp bulbs. Power windows are slow and passenger side needs to be looked at. Small repair was made to passenger door a few years ago to strengthen window frame.
Interior
  • Seats: Front has been redone in leather as original. Rear is fine, see pictures.
  • Carpet: Fine
  • Floor Mats
  • Dash Board: Upholstered access panel on top of dash slightly out of shape and needs to be re-fit. A knob on the heating control is missing and I think my two-year-old grandson ended up with it so I’m still looking around and hopefully will trip over it.
  • Gauges/Clock: Gauges fine. Clock doesn't work.
  • Air Conditioning/Heater: A/C not working, to be checked
  • Other: New battery and front end alignment
