General History of Car

From Chris, car's previous owner: There's not much to say about this '54 Jag. I've had this car for about 24 years. I purchased it from a guy in Washington DC. He had the car since 1969. His name was Bud (last name upon request). He was head of surgery at a local hospital in Washington. He didn't drive the car a whole lot. He did enter it in a number of shows, nothing that I ever had any interest in. THe Jag has had the wire wheels replaced with new ones from XK's Unlimited. Ken, at Rally Sport, has replaced the valve seats so that it no longer needs lead. Ken has serviced the car every year for the past ten years or so.
The car has been a great car to own and drive. I am sorry that there isn't a Great History to this vehicle. It has been owned by at least two people who have appreciated, and taken great care of this auto for the last 40 years.

Vehicle Description

This is a driver which has great possibilities for restoration.

Mechanical
Engine

Runs strong with excelant oil pressure, small leaks from front and rear oil seats. Car has had the harden valve seats installed when a recent valave job was done. Compression fine.

Drive Train

All seems fine and second synchro OK. Car drives well.

Chassis

Solid chassis with some scaling but nothing rusted through.

Brakes

Drum brakes that stop straight.

Wheels

Wire wheels seem fine and tires serviceable.

Body

Paint
Older paint and although OK for a driver, you probably will want to repaint at some point. Some cracking/checking around hood and front end area.

Rust
Some minor rust but not a major issue.

Damage/Collision
None known although right front fender around parking light seems to have some small amount of plastic. Might have been used when repainted to smooth the surfaces.

Trim
OK. We believe the owner has the front bumpers available.

Other
Top is supposedly original and although in one piece it should be replaced at some point.

Interior

Seats

We are told they are original.

Carpet

Worn.

Floor Mats

Worn.

Dash Board

Fine.

Gauges/Clock

Fine.

Air Conditioning/ Heater

No A/C
